ended with a splash.

as an ending to our "girls weekend"  miss i and
i ventured out to the town pool today.
she was more interested in the people than
she was the water.  i expected this, but
i wanted to do at least one thing summery
this weekend.

we are missing our boys . . . bad.

and i must give some credit to my mom and nieces (kenadi & emily) for contributing to
"i's" girls weekend.  they took her overnight so that I could "get some stuff done".
i finally did, but for about the first 4 hours i wandered around my
house aimlessly thinking about how weird it was to be there
without at least one of my two little people.
i actually got a little emotional . . . can you say hot mess.
after you become a mom, you just can't win.
you want to be alone , but then when you're alone you
just can't help but feel just a smidge guilty.

anyway, here's hoping that i can find more time this week than last
to drop in on my lovely blog.  did i tell you i painted
the "front room" . . . that is what kept me occupied most
of last week.  can't wait to show you.

saturday morning.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. . .

breakfast can be had without the words "hurry up" involved.
one of life's simple pleasures.  have a great weekend!

girls weekend.

So what's the first thing two chickas do when they gotta a
little time on their hands, some jingle jangle in their pocket,
and none of the opposite sex around to hurry them along . . .

small hint :).

I mean really . . . need I say more.

(as for the last pic,
lil' chicka insisted on pushing
the cart down every aisle. thanks
mom for the trip to Kohls where you let her
get out of the cart and run all over the store,
she obviously remembers that- no more cart
sitting for this little lady.)
As for the second
a little snuggle time.

Now don't get us wrong,
dad and bro are greatly missed,
but we must admit it's kind
of nice having some time
for just the two of us.

PS - Are only purchases at the bullseye
were a new outfit and toy top for "I"
and a Starbucks for me.
That's it, that's all
we just needed our fix.

dad's day.

Happy Dad's Day to
the king of our world!

We hope you know how much
you are appreciated and loved.
YOU ARE THE BEST!

some summer groovin'.

Every Thursday night in June
the streets of the Capitol City
are blocked off so one and all
can come enjoy some live sounds
from local musicians.

From our attendance last week and then again
tonight, we have learned one thing, our little
Miss Isla can do some serious booty shaking.
Actually, her booty doesn't do a whole
lot of shaking, but her little legs do a whole
lot of squatting and every now and again
she will do some head banging and arm
waving.  She even has the "attitude"
face going on.

Tonight they had hula hoops
available for I's dancing pleasure :).

And I just happen to catch them
making some cakes.  If you drive
downtown after dark on Friday
nights you usually always
see them making/ decorating
wedding cakes for Saturday.
it's dreamy . . . the only business
a glow, cakes being made
(you can almost smell the sugar)
to celebrate a wedding and a
wonderful future to be had.
gotta love the
"we'll try anything"
motto.

trudging on.

iso . . . . . . aperture . . . . . . . shutter speed.

the 3 things that seem to consume most of my spare time lately (the buttons and dials on my camera have been used more the past 14 days than they did the 4 years previous). and even though the perfect combo of all three seems to exude me in most of my picture taking these days, i vow to trudge on and resist the urge to switch my camera dial back to my feeling neglected "a" (automatic) setting.  with that being said, here are a few of my favorites in no particular order unedited photos from the last couple of weeks.  for those of you who know a little or a lot about photoging, please don’t look too much at the light, the darkness, the focal point, the part that’s blurry but now supposed to be, the white balance, i could go on and on.  as imperfect as these may be . . . i still love them for one reason or another. the fact that they document the simple things about life, our life, and it happening is why they are my favs.

in the midst of my picture taking one evening,
i forgot i left my favorite coffee drink for the price setting on the stairs.
guess who found it?  camera already in hand, i had to snap one quick.
oh, my little miss i, you don't need anymore energy.

and just one more quilt picture . . . because i promised.

i can't wait for winter.

for one reason and one reason only.
to curl up in this little lovely.

i still can't believe that i created it or at least half of it anyway.

she did an absolutely wonderful job finishing what i started.
i didn't think that i would want to do another quilt top any
time soon, but i received this and now i am trying to decide
what fabric combo i might want to use for the next one :).
more pics of my cold weather lovely to come later this weekend . . . hopefully.
i think i hear miss i trying to crawl out of her crib.

oh . . . and just kidding about the winter thing.
i don't have very good luck with wishes being granted, but
i thought mother nature might just decide to change it with this one :).
